Dominion has a team of expensive lawyers and lobbyists to convince the SCC that they should be allowed to unilaterally impose their new high costs for Interconnection Parameters right away without waiting for public review. So, to make our case effectively that the new Interconnection Parameters should be put on hold, the DSA has hired the leading energy advocates with unparalleled experience dealing with the SCC and other state energy officials.
But hiring these experts is expensive. Companies that install solar power on schools, hospitals and businesses have already contributed to our legal fund. But they’re all small businesses with limited budgets. So we’re seeking to raise money from citizens who support rooftop solar power to help cover some of the costs. Most solar companies in Virginia are small businesses, lacking the funds for the best representation in the state capital, even while monopoly utilities hire the most expensive lawyers and lobbyists to try to shut us down.
By pooling our funds and relying on people power, solar companies have engaged the experts we need to make our case in Richmond. But to continue the fight against the deep pockets of big utilities, the DSA needs help. If you care about clean energy in Virginia, then please help us keep up the fight for your solar rights!
