Power Virginia’s Energy Future — Support Distributed Solar
Virginia is at a turning point. With the launch of the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Task Force, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernize our energy system—expanding solar, storage, and local energy solutions across the Commonwealth.
This Task Force will be chaired by Virginia’s Chief Energy Officer Josephus Allmond, signaling strong alignment with the Governor’s energy strategy and a clear pathway to meaningful reform.
Why This Moment Matters
For years, distributed solar has faced structural barriers that limit growth and increase costs for schools, local governments, and businesses. At the same time, large monopoly utilities like Dominion Energy continue to deploy well-funded legal and lobbying teams to shape outcomes.
Now, the center of gravity is shifting—from litigation to policy.
The DER Task Force creates a real opportunity to:
- Remove barriers to distributed solar and battery energy storage
- Expand market access and competition
- Strengthen grid resilience and energy security
- Lower long-term energy costs for Virginians
Your Support Makes Energy Progress Possible
The Virginia Distributed Solar Alliance is leading the effort to open the electric grid to local energy sources by bringing together businesses, policymakers, and community leaders to help shape Virginia’s energy future.
But we can’t do it alone. We rely on supporters like you to ensure distributed energy has a strong, effective voice. Every contribution—large or small—helps drive real policy change.
